Equimundo

GRAPHIC DESIGN • DIGITAL CONTENT + WEB STRATEGY • SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT

In my role as Communications Officer at Equimundo: Center for Masculinities and Social Justice, I lead Equimundo’s graphic design work and ensure brand consistency across creative deliverables, including social media graphics, publications, infographics, brochures, webpages, posters, slide decks, video/motion graphics, and other print and digital marketing materials.

While working with partner organizations and external vendors, I enforce brand compliance in design deliverables by managing style guidelines and digital assets with a keen eye for detail. I have led creative direction and design work with high-level partner organizations including UN Women, the U.S. Congressional Dads Caucus, and Futures Without Violence. I find joy in creating engaging content that effectively ties mission-oriented brands together while aligning with distinct brand guidelines.

Equimundo a DC-based non-governmental organization (NGO) working to promote gender equality and create a world free from violence by engaging men and boys in partnership with women, girls, and individuals of all gender identities.

New job. New brand.

When I joined the Equimundo team in May 2022, the organization had just finished a full rebranding and name change process. It was perfect timing for me because I got to design all of the digital assets to announce the rebrand. I was the first to explore applying the new brand across our social media channels, website, and print and digital design.

Equimundo’s Strategic Plan

ABOUT THE PROJECT

I was tasked with creating a visual representation and clear, concise document detailing the organization’s strategic plan. Along with a small team of other strategic thinkers, we distilled a 20-page jargon-heavy document down to a digestible slide deck, and I created the visual design of the deck.

Keeping it professional

I design and manage all of the organization’s external communications materials, including slide decks, business cards, LinkedIn headers, and branded headshots.
Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference.

Report layout design

This report I designed was presented to writers at the Television Academy to share tips on scripting healthy male characters who break harmful gender stereotypes. The design was intended to be clear and positive, and was designed in Equimundo’s branding to build brand awareness.

Report layout design

I designed a report in the Equimundo branding which served as the basis for a week of action with the US Congressional Dads Caucus advocating for family-friendly policies for dads including paid leave and the child tax credit. I was given a deck designed by the Research team with a basic structure of the report and some semblance of the branding applied, and told to “make it pretty.”

What I designed…

…and how it started

Branded image treatment

Utilizing the image treatment guidelines from the Equimundo brand, I created branded images for use across the Equimundo website.

Equimundo on social media

I manage Equimundo’s social media channels and design all the content that I post, ensuring brand consistency for all content.

Social Media Campaign

Highlighting findings from a report on masculinity

The “State of American Men” social media campaign highlighted findings from Equimundo’s research report about men, masculinity, and gender equality in the United States. This campaign was meant to speak to and work well with the Equimundo brand, but maintain its own identity.

Designing with partners’ branding

Equimundo works in partnership with many non-profits/non-governmental organizations, corporations, and governments. I frequently design assets taking other partners’ branding into account while maintaining our own brand consistency.
